Better in Real Life

Okay, I swear that this outfit translated better in real life than in any of the pics I took!

It's transition time in the stores again, with Spring and Early Summer merchandise flooding into place.  For my job, this means I have to clean the store in the morning and then move merchandise around and be a cashier for the rest of the day.  Those jobs require a few things...foremost is comfortable shoes.  Not too many shoes more comfy than Chucks.  I also can't look like I just finished mopping floors and cleaning toilets (even if I just have) so the look has to be presentable while still allowing me the freedom to move about without adjusting layers all day.  So...this is the type of outfit you get from me when my job gets squicky complicated and full of multi-tasking.

Have I ever mentioned that I used to be a manager at this SAME store?  Sigh.  I used to look really great for work.  I didn't have to clean then.  Sigh again.  Oh well, I get a whole lot more time for blogging this way!  LOL.

It's another Monday ya'll, so go check the links.

XO,
Alyssa

  2. Oh, you look really fresh and cute. I once worked in a fabric store, and every time a new shipment of fabric came in, we had to move everything around, so I totally get what you're saying. It's dusty, and sometimes messy work. Plus, you have to be moving up and down. Your choices here are perfect!

  3. I love this casual look, Alyssa. :) I think you look fresh and chic. (And I too have so many outfits that I don't feel translated well to the Blog.)

    1. CC--thank you! I think I might have to break down and invest in a tripod. I think the angle of my home-made stack of baskets and books is part of the problem. That, or I really gotta shed some pounds. Probably more like both.

  4. Oh, god, I was going to say something about the shoes. And then I read the rest of the post. Well, when you're working you just have to make do. I waited tables in clunky shoes worn with skirts for many years, and comfort is more important than anything when you're on your feet all day.

I love your bright mix of colors, though! Navy and orange are great together.

    1. Val...you can feel free to say what you want! I can take it. I know when I look at the pics, the shoes look out of place and big like clown feet--in real life though you can see my ankle and my feet are normal sized! I think its just the way I'm standing or something. Thanks for sympathizing with me!

  8. Well, it's still pretty cute in the digital world as well. Besides you looking pretty in it, your choices say you're paying attention to what you're wearing, the world around you and that you made conscious choices. Sometimes work just gets in the damned way!

    2. Actually, I've been having a medium-cruddy day until just now. That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me ... well ... in a while! So kind. And I'm always glad to stop by ... I learn from you every time.

  9. Orange and blue-my favorite combo! I'm also a Florida alum so I may be biased to what I believe is the best color combination ever ;-) You look great!

  10. I think it's a cute look! I love it when bloggers feature outfits where they're wearing Chucks - I think they're so cool, and I really wish I still had a pair.
