Work Shorts
Some jobs have very strict dress codes requiring adherence to a rigid set of clothing choices. Mine is not one of them, but we are required to meet certain standards of dress. Employees are allowed to wear shorts to work, but they must be long enough to reach our knees.
This is my interpretation of a "work shorts" outfit. It isn't a look I would choose to wear if I didn't have to heed our dress code because I think when shorts are this long on a leg as short as mine, it isn't all that flattering. However, it is due to be 105 degrees today and the thought of wearing jeans is, um, unpleasant to say the least.
I don't know how much blogging I will get in this week as I was scheduled to work quite a bit and we are preparing for a short trip to Newport Beach, CA and Disneyland next week. I will be busy on GCOGH trying to come up with just the right clothing capsule so I can look cute and comfortable, instead of just Disney Chic (ie; baseball cap and sneakers) like I normally do. If I don't make it back here for a few...enjoy your week!!
XO,
Alyssa

It is nice! Although sometimes I wish I had a desk job so I could wear all my fancy shoes (which require large blocks of time just sitting still)!
DeleteThanks for popping by.
I can't even remember how 105F feel... we have dreadful weather with terrible floods in Germany, temperatures around low 40ies and radiators on full... in June!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in your longer shorts and your styling is very classy.

Annette--it feels...HOT! LOL. Imagine walking out your door and into your oven. Not a joke, that is really what summer feels like in AZ, you can ask Heather if you don't believe me. Truth is, I'll take an oven over cold weather any day!! Hope Germany warms up for you soon.
DeleteLOL at "Disney Chic" : > We live close to Disney World, and I know exactly what you mean. Love these stylish shorts-for-work. And your hair is gorgeous! Thanks for linking up to Visible Monday.
ReplyDeletePatti...I used to have a Disney World Annual Pass when we lived in FL and my kids were very little. I was NOT concerned with looking cute at the time, I can tell you that!
DeleteThanks for hosting, as always.
Okay, I was just typing and my comments disappeared! If they appear sometime, somewhere only half-done, that's why. Back to what I was saying: you look wonderful in those shorts! The look is similar to wearing a knee-length skirt so I don't think you need to worry about not having longer legs to pull this off. The look you put together is fabulous and perfect for our weather which is HOT! Have a great time on your upcoming vacation.

Thanks Heather, it seems that lots of people's comments got dropped...sorry!!
DeleteLove, love, love your post this week even though I think I forgot to comment!! Congrats to you!!
Love that outfit. You look very chic.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you Marla. And thanks for taking a second to comment, I appreciate it!
DeleteLove the outfit! It's much too cold in my office for anything other than pants :-P

Thank you Monica. Do they sweat you out in the winter and freeze you in the summer? WAY back in the day, when I actually had an office job, thats what it was like for us. I used to keep a huge sweater in my cube to wear around the office because it was so dang cold!
DeleteI would like to know where you got the top. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteYou know Heather...I had polled my readers to see if I should add the "where I got it" information and I have totally NOT done it!! Sorry I was remiss...this shirt was from TJ Maxx about 3 years ago.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Lucky that you get to wear shorts to work! Enjoy your trip to Disneyland & Newport Beach - that's pretty much my backyard! The June gloom is here so it's pretty chilly in the morning.

LOL Alice...the June gloom; I thought that was only a San Diego thing?! Should I even pack shorts or will I freeze my butt off?
DeleteDude. Where did my comment go.
ReplyDeleteOnce again...
Blogger meet up! Blogger meet up!
I live 10 minutes from Newport! If you have any unplanned time (LOL) I can meet you where ever, except Disneyland. You're on your own there :)
Email me at chalkboardsocial@gmail.com if you can find the time. I'm serious!!!!!
um, ok so we have already chatted...but I didn't want to not comment here so everyone else knows I didn't ignore you!
Delete(pssst...hey everyone... I GET TO MEET BEVERLY NEXT WEEK!!!!)
I really like them on you! I think it's the nature of city shorts to come across this way, but they look dandy on your legs. Cute and best choice of flats, I think. Top is pretty and sophisticated ... necklace works just in the way you intend it to. Really sleek outfit for very bad heat!
ReplyDeleteYikes, 105 already? I'm not looking forward to it.
Have a completely groovy time in old CA! We used to drive up from San Diego to Disneyland at least once every summer ... first year was 1955! Arrrrggh.
And if you meet up with Beverly WE WANT PHOTOS!!!!
You had your licence in 1955? Dang girl, you look good! :)
DeleteThank you Jan, I am glad the outfit came off well.
DeleteAny Disneyland tips for me?? This is our first time in the "land"; I am a "world" girl myself.
As to photos with Beverly...not sure? I am afraid of the comparison when we stand next to each other since she is tall and lean and I am short and Rubenesque. I am exactly vain enough not to want to suffer that comparison. Perhaps just head shots? Or shoes? LOL
Alyssa, I love everything about this look. I'm short too, 5'2", and with a longer torso, appear to have almost no legs, LOL. But, I still wear shorts this length. The tie at your waist, and your necklaces draw the eye up, and your shoes are so cute! Don't change a thing! This outfit screams PERFECT to me.
ReplyDeleteHave a super time in Disney and LA. Can't wait for pics!
Sue xo
Thanks Sue. I need everything I can get to draw that eye upwards!!!
DeleteI saw that you linked up with the Pleated Poppy, I'd love for you to check out my blog hop if you haven't already!!
