Revisiting Black

What are the elements that take a simple black and white outfit and transform it into something different? I guess it could be different things for different people but for me, shoes and accessories are the big ticket choices for making a simple outfit look outstanding.

Three long necklaces and three matching shoes (seriously, already in my wardrobe) makes three ways to wear this one outfit.  They look similar, but different enough to be useful for different occasions.

Wear it with green

Wear it with coral

Wear it with black and gold

I love them all.  You will be seeing a lot of this top, I can guarantee it.  Have fun with your accessories and see how you can switch up your basic black and white this week.

XO,
Alyssa

  4. Love your black and white look! My fav, of course, is the coral. I checked back through a couple of posts that I had missed (finally made it to San Diego for a nice, cool break) and am lusting after your sleeveless black blazer - even checked the availability for a copycat look but all that's left are extra smalls (in my dreams). Perfect for this hot weather!

    1. Thank you Heather! I had a tough time finding my size in the store, I wanted about 5 other things from this line and not one was left in my size either so I feel your pain.

Glad you had fun in SD...heading there myself in October if you have any suggestions!

  6. I especially love the green!! You inspired me with that colour as I bought that same blouse this week (it's ZARA, right?)

    1. Annette...mine is from TJ Maxx, but it could very well originally be ZARA, or a copycat thereof! I can't wait to see what you do with it so I can steal ideas from a master!!

  7. Oh, yes. Quite right about this all-season top ... very pretty shape and classic in anyone's book. I'm clearly with you that it's so often the shoes that change up the world. You look so polished and thoroughly cool. My idea of great outfits working hard.
Also must note that you do a great job photographing the darks. It's hard to make them come out right, but in this set and your last post you can see the differences in all the textures. That's a problem for me, and I'm reminded how interersting darks are when presented well.

Still thinking about how I can use your inspiration for a sleeveless blazer ...
    Enjoy your weekend!
