Teatime Tidbits

(Ignore my titular alliteration)




I spent Friday afternoon at the wonderful English Rose Tea Shop in Carefree with a great friend.  I have never gone to a tea shop so it was a new experience for me.  I thought that my new floral dress would fit the bill just right, and since it is still a bit cold here I had to do tights with my shoes.  First time I've done that combo with these shoes and I really liked the way the whole thing came together.  I tried on about a dozen necklaces and nothing even remotely popped off of the heavy floral, so I though I'd let my belt and my arm bangles do the accessorizing for me.  Oh...and there was also this, in the tea shop...


Bad self portraiture, but is that hat not TO DIE for?!  They had a huge chest full of great hats for the picking.  Perhaps gross, but I had a great time.  It was about 2 sizes too large for me, but I just balanced it on my ears for a while.  It got the job done!  I felt perfectly festive for the occasion.

There was also some silliness going on.

Yes, I wear glasses and I have hair in my eye.
It's how we roll in AZ.  I also took a few fun pics at the "dump", which isn't really a dump but a collection of shops and consignment booths.  [If I knew how to do a "more pics after the jump" jump, I would spare you all of this.]

    You look wonderful! The belt emphasizes your tiny waist. Love that you were at the tea room in Carefree. It's one of my favorite places and I enjoy having tea there. Isn't the Town Dump an interesting place?! I've uncovered a couple of treasures amongst the junk but it takes some looking.

    You know the florals are big this spring! Wonderful ensemble....from head to toe!
    You look great in that hat! Seriously! :)
    Hubby & I will be visiting Scottsdale this summer....first time for us. Can't wait.

    Fun pictures, all of them. You look great in the hat! You should find one in your size, although maybe not quite so fancy or you'd never get to wear it. That dark floral dress is so pretty! Is it a navy background? The navy and orange of the flowers is so gorgeous together, and looks great on you. I like how you styled it, too, so nothing competes with the pattern.

      Thanks Val, I am definitely going to try to find a hat this summer, one that is not a baseball cap or a straw sunner. I want a real, ladylike hat that I can wear when I want to get my fancy SC on! LOL

    I want a dress just like yours!!!!! I don't often get seriously envious of an outfit, but you're wearing just what I want to wear. Good thing I like you and can't try to talk you out of it. Nevermind, it would be too small for me, and that's annoying enough punishment for my envy!
    Kidding aside, I'm going looking for a similar dress. Tights, shoes, everything ... I'd wear a darker cardie because of my fat arms, but you look better in the white 'cause it serves the dress better.
    Have I mentioned lately that you have the best hair I ever saw?
    And why can't we have a tea shop with hats here ...?!!!

      Jan, first thanks for coveting my stuff! lol Seriously girl, you have a bad case of body dismorphia as I have seen pictures of you and I am not seeing what you are seeing. I think you are slim and beautiful and you dress your body beautifully. I hate my arms too, but I'll be damned if I'm going to wear a dark color just because of it! These dudes are just lucky I covered them up at all! LOL. And you can come visit me anytime and I'll take you to tea.

      Sweet child! It gets so hot here (115 last summer, very warm running around our restaurant with 90% humidity) that I let anyone who is offended by my batty upper arms avert their gaze. We are all in the same boat here, so I do a fair amount of averting myself!
      And if I come to see you, nice to know I can expect tea!

    I love your florals. You look marvelous, especially in the hat. I have been stalking florals and haven't had a lot of success. But then again, the hunt is what is the most fun!
