Switching into some 3 inch wedges allowed the pant leg to hang properly and really made the whole look better. Did I suffer for it, yes I did. By hour 5 my toes really hurt and I had a blister the size of Texas. Did my pants look a heck of a lot better all day? Yes, yes they did.
The moral of the story? Pay attention to where your pant leg sits. If it's bunching up around your ankle or sitting on the ground, you need to hem it or wear higher heels. If your pant leg doesn't come anywhere near the floor, then your heels are too high and you need to wear lower ones. So the "little thing", the detail for today...heel height matters.
(and obviously, blisters don't) LOL
XO,
Alyssa
I actually have some jeans that are hemmed for flats and other that are long enough for heels (and it's a pain in the butt when I don't remember which is which and I have to change!)
ReplyDeleteLove your blouse! It's really eye catching .. so pretty!

I definitely have both as well, I think all of us under 5'5" probably have that problem. Then there is the choice of which to hem and which not to! UGH.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Alyssa
I never used to think about it that much, but I noticed the same thing myself with some slacks I have - they look so much better when I have a higher shoe. I actually have a lot of flats because I like comfortable shoes - call me crazy. But I should go buy more shoes so I have the right ones for my pants. Damn, I have to buy more shoes!
ReplyDeleteSorry that I induced a shopping spree Val! LOL Nah, everyone needs a shoe spree now and then, right?

Like Monica - I have jeans hemmed for flats and heels. The problem is remembering which pair for which shoes. Love the colors & pattern of your top.

Alice,
DeleteThe burdens of being petite I guess, right? Thanks for stopping!!
Alyssa
I feel your pain! Sometimes I'll bring several pairs of shoes to work so I can have the "right" ones with me but have the others along for comfort when needed. I also have jeans in all different lengths to try to avoid the problem. I'm short so I need the height offered by wedges or heels but sometimes I wish I was just wearing flats!

P.S. I didn't notice the jean "problem" until you pointed it out, so you probably would have been fine for the day in the flats :)
Heather,
DeleteI do that too!! On my long days I usually bring a pair of flats to change into about midway through the day if I need to. It has saved me on many an occasion I can tell you.
Alyssa
ouch! I hate it when my feet hurt! OR when my jeans flop too long. You do look great though : > and thanks for linking up with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patii! Somehow I doubt you ever encounter having too long pants being the long cool glass of water that you are!

How we suffer for beauty! Gotta know you looked great, though. I carry band aids in my purse all the time ... sandals bother me a lot more than pumps. My favorite summer-shoe-foot-saver-tip: get some very thin cork sheets and cut out pads to go under the ball of your foot. Not so much for padding, but to be absorbent so you foot doesn't slip down so far into the toe of your shoe, or push too hard against straps. Cuts down on blisters, 'cause your foot doesn't move so much!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful both ways, btw. Sure like the orange and blue together! So fresh!
And thanks for the heads-up on Copycat Thursday! Maybe can play this week, as I'm already copying Reva!
Have a great week ... hope to catch up with all soon!
J
Hey jan! Thanks. I am going to have to try the cork sheet idea, I have quite a few pairs of summer shoes that would benefit from that technique! Thanks for sharing it.

p.s. hope to see you thursday!
Oh yes, the overall proportions in the second picture are better. But foot comfort is non-negotiable for me! If my feet ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.... :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Deja! You're too funny.

I wish shoes would be designed for both sockless comfort and good looks. Who wears socks anymore? And your heels def "step up" the outfit. Sorry you had to suffer for that, lol.
ReplyDeleteI see an enterprise in your future Bella! Comfort heels made for us sockless beauties! LOL

I'm not good with heels either, so when I wear a pair I bring an extra foldable flats in my super big bag ;).. they are life saver! But this pair of yours made the outfit, stunning height and perfect for the jeans!

Hi Mrs. C!
DeleteFlats can certainly be a livesaver, that is for sure! Thanks for the compliment, and for stopping by!
Alyssa
As a short person, I deal with this all the time. I remember watching What Not To Wear years ago and hearing them say you needed to have pants hemmed for heels AND pants hemmed for flats and thinking that seemed frivolous and nuts! It took me a while to get it, but I finally understand. And agree. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like how you paired the blazer and top with these dark jeans. Very 'put together' looking!
